Privacy Policy

Centli ("Centli", "we", "us") is a personal-finance journal for tracking your own money — spending, accounts, ledgers, and loans. This policy explains what data the app handles, how it's used, who else processes it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Centli mobile apps and this website.
The short version: your financial data is yours. We don't sell it, and we don't connect to your bank. But to make features like cloud sync, the AI assistant, and the free ad-supported tier work, some data does leave your device to specific service providers. This policy tells you exactly which, and when.
1. Information we handle
Information you provide
- Account details — when you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and (if available) profile photo.
- The financial data you enter — transactions, amounts, account and ledger names, notes, categories, loans, and any photos or receipts you attach. This is the core content of the app.
- Support content — if you submit a bug report or feature suggestion, we store the text you write and any screenshot you attach.
Information collected automatically
- Diagnostics & usage — app crashes, performance data, and aggregate usage events (e.g. which screens are opened), via our diagnostics and crash-reporting tools, to keep the app stable and improve it.
- Advertising identifier (free tier only) — if you use the free version, our advertising provider may access your device's advertising ID to serve and measure ads. Centli Pro shows no ads, and the ad SDK is not started for Pro accounts. Ads are never targeted using your financial data.
- Push token — a push-notification token so we can send you notifications you've enabled (e.g. reminders).
- Subscription status — whether you have an active Pro subscription, from your app store.
2. How we use it
- To run the app — show your data back to you and compute totals.
- To sync across your devices, when cloud sync is on (see §4).
- To power Chat with Centli, the AI assistant (see §3).
- To show ads on the free tier and process subscriptions on Pro.
- To provide support, send notifications you've enabled, and keep the app secure and reliable.
3. The AI assistant (Chat with Centli)
Important: When you send a message to Chat with Centli, that message and a snapshot of the financial data needed to answer it (for example your accounts, ledgers, and recent transactions) are sent to our third-party AI provider, through our secure cloud function, so it can generate a reply. The AI provider processes this data to return the answer and, under its commercial API terms, does not use it to train its models. We don't use your chats to build advertising profiles, and we don't sell them. If you never open the AI assistant, none of your data is sent to the AI provider.
4. Where your data lives, and cloud sync
- Free tier: your financial data stays on your device. It is not synced to our cloud.
- Pro: when sync is enabled, your financial data is stored in our secure cloud on our project, so it's available across your devices. Bug reports, feature suggestions, and attached screenshots are also stored in our cloud.
We honor your settings: turning sync off keeps new data local, and you can erase your data at any time (see §7).
5. Ads on the free tier
The free version is supported by ads from our advertising provider. It may use your advertising identifier to serve and measure ads and, where you allow it, to personalize them. Ads are not based on the financial data you enter. Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), we ask for your consent first. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings, or remove ads entirely by upgrading to Centli Pro.
6. Who else processes your data
We don't sell your data and we don't share it with data brokers. We do rely on a small set of trusted service providers ("sub-processors") to run specific features:

Each provider handles your data under its own privacy terms and only to deliver the service above.
7. Keeping, exporting, and deleting your data
Your local data stays until you remove it. You can erase everything with "Erase all data" in Backup & sync — this clears your device data and, if sync was on, your cloud copy. Uninstalling the app removes the local copy. To delete your account and associated cloud data entirely, use the in-app account-deletion option (Settings → Danger zone).
8. How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit. The app offers an optional biometric / passcode lock and a hide-amounts mode. Because Centli never connects to your bank, there are no banking credentials for anyone to steal.
9. Children's privacy
Centli isn't directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has used Centli, contact us and we'll help remove the account and its data.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Most of this you can do yourself in the app. We don't sell personal information.
11. Changes to this policy
If something material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, show you a notice in the app before the change affects you.
